Welcome to Blazin Britts, located in Forest Lake, MN. This web site was setup to showcase our American Brittanys, which we hunt and compete with in American Field and AKC Field Trials throughout the United States. We belong to the St. Croix Valley Brittany Club and Minnesota Brittany Club, if you have any questions please contact us. I have been involved with hunting dogs since I was 8 years old, growing up with Golden & Labrador Retrievers that we trained for Duck & Pheasant hunting in Minnesota. In 1980 I bought my first pointing dog, a Brittany that I trained for Grouse & Pheasant hunting. Since then Ive hunted nearly every game bird available with my dogs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska, South Dakota and Iowa. Wanting to do more with my dogs, I attended my first field trial, placed 2nd in a Derby stake and the hook was set. My wife Lori and I travel to field trials across the country where we campaign our Brittanys in All Age, Gun Dog and juvenile stakes. Our dogs have won and placed in hundreds of American Field & AKC stakes throughout the years, including the ABC National All Age Championships, ABC Chicken Classic, ABC Pheasant Classic, ABC Quail Classic, ABC Futurity and other regional Championships, Classics and hour stakes. We have had some competitive Brittanys's over the years with the most notable being Hall of Fame dog 6xCh/FC/AFC Smarteyes-Joker (30 All-Age Hour wins), his son 6xCh/FC/AFC Joker's Jackpot (18 All-Age Hour wins and 2012 Purina All Age Brittany of the Year Award winner), and my first field trial dog FC/AFC Tally-O On The Go (42 Field Trial Wins). Over the years I've been honored to scout many dogs for professional trainers and amateurs and also handle dogs for several amateurs and professional trainers. Winning the 2017 & 2019 ABC National Amateur Championship with Ru-Jem's "Last" Penny for owners Ruth & Jerry McGee was truly one of my highlights. Locally I've been active in the St. Croix Valley, Minnesota & Hawkeye Brittany Clubs, having held various officer positions since 1993 serving as the Field Trial Chairman & President since 1996. Also held several officer positions within the MN Federation of Field Trial Clubs and served as their webmaster (1998-present). Nationally I've helped host the ABC Pheasant Championship and re-established the Region 19 Brittany Amateur All Age Championship on the famed Harms Cattle Co. ranch (2017-present). I am also active at the National level with the American Brittany Club, serving as a Director (2011-2019), the National Championship Field Trial Secretary (2004-2022), National Dates Chairman (2012-present), ABC Webmaster (2003-present), Purina All Age Award Statistician (2004-present), and served as the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame Webmaster (2010-present). Over the years I've enjoyed judging just about every pointing breed in many American Field and AKC field trials all across the country. Some of the championships I've been honored to judge include the Trail City Sharptail Championship (1998), West Coast Brittany All Age Classic (2000), Twin Cities GWP Open Shooting Dog Classic (2002), Gordon Setter National Championship (2002 & 2004), German Wirehaired Pointer National Championship (2005), North Country Shooting Dog Championship (2006), Region 19 Amateur Shooting Dog Championship (2008), International Brittany Shooting Dog Championship (2009 & 2011), Prairie State Brittany Shooting Dog Championship (2010), Region 19 Amateur All Age Championship (2013), ABC National Amateur Gun Dog Championship (2014), ABC Grouse & Woodcock Classic (2015), ABC Gun Dog Classic (2016). |
